For me a website resembles seeing my books behind a glass case at the wonderful New York Historical Society exhibit "Italians in New York," curated by my late great friend, Phil Canistraro. Death. Maintaining this website is like raising intermittent sparks of life while dead.

Author of seven books of fiction, nonfiction and biography, most recently a slim warm memoir titled Toni Cade Bambara's One Sicilian Night, centered around the great Toni Cade, about, too, North American writers working in Sicily, including Kurt Vonnegut and Harold Brodkey. Stories and essays have been anthologized in Dream Streets, Identity Lessons (Viking), the Italian American Reader (William Morrow) and, most recently, Reaching for the Stars (Random House). Formulating at present a memoir/fiction titled MIRACLES.
New Horizons. What I've not done before. Collaborate with the right people on my recent completed screenplays The Bensonhurt Pigeon and Lefty & the Button Men.
