Interests

I've been fascinated by guns all my life and own many. I love to hunt, particularly with my sons and son-in-laws. I love spending time with my family. I'm a voracious reader, and I enjoy a great movie.

Books

My novel HONEYSUCKLE TIME to be published next summer is the only one to my credit yet. However, I'm under contract on a historical nonfiction work that hopefully will get published by next november. I believe ALL THE KING'S MEN by Robert Penn Warren is the greatest novel ever written. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE runs it a close second, and John Steinbeck's, THE RED PONY comes in third. Raymond Chandler wrote great mysteries. Elmer Kelton wrote good westerns, but the greatest westerns of all were written by Harry S. Wheeler.

Movies

TENDER MERCIES is the greatest one I've ever seen. DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES was excellent. PREDATOR wasn't bad for a slam/bam/smash'em, and OLD YAllER was about as good as a children's movie fit for adults gets.

Television

Thumbs down. I sometimes watch the news and weather. Nothing else.

About Me

My first novel, HONEYSUCKLE TIME will be published the summer of 2008, and I'm currently under contract to write a nonfiction historical book. In addition, I've written three scripts but haven't sold one yet. I will continue working on them.
I was born in Missouri but grew up in a small town in Arkansas. I 've lived for over thirty years in Oklahoma and retired from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. I completed a BSE in history from the University of Central Arkansas, a masters degree in English from Henderson State University and a Masters of Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma. I love guns, hunting, the outdoors, America, and my family, but I love God most of all because he is so good. Besides working at the DHS, I've worked as a construction worker, a sawmill worker, a farm hand, a factory hand, a sales representative, a public school teacher, a night supervisor at a facility for the mentally retarded and a journalist.

Goal

My goal is to write novels and nonfiction until I die. A second goal is to break into screenwriting.
