Patel has worked closely with Weinstein overseeing Monster-In-Law, Rumor Has It, Looney Tunes, Envy, Blood Diamond, and Recount directed by Jay Roach. In development, Patel oversees more than two dozen projects under Weinstein set up at various studios, and has strong relationships with screenwriters and directors such as Allan Loeb, Danny Strong, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, Steven Baigelman, Eugene Jarecki, and John Hillcoat.
Prior to joining Spring Creek, Patel was West Coast Story Editor at Focus Features working closely with Russell Schwartz, Scott Greenstein, Donna Gigliotti, and others. While at Focus, Patel worked closely with senior executives on Traffic, Gosford Park, Nurse Betty, Deliver Us From Eva, Possession, The Kid Stays In The Picture, The Man Who Wasn’t There, and assisted the acquisitions department on In The Mood For Love, Monsoon Wedding, and Wet Hot American Summer.
Patel started out in the business as an intern/assistant on The Sixth Sense in his hometown of Philadelphia. After moving to Los Angeles, he worked as a development assistant to Sr. VP Production Matt Berenson at Paul Schiff Productions on Wes Anderson’s Rushmore. Within three months, Patel set up his first project, “Filthy,” before the writers of the project had even moved to Los Angeles; which coincidentally was written by his friends Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle). Patel worked closely with Berenson in helping Hurwitz & Schlossberg find representation. After Paul Schiff lost his deal with Disney, Patel went to Focus Features.

“Palak is one of the few people in this industry whose taste I trust. He has his finger on the pulse on good writing and great scripts. He knows what works and what sells in this town.”
-Maha Dakhil, Literary Agent, CAA
"Palak Patel not only has great insight in the creative process of screenwriting, but also the politics of getting a movie made. He was one of the first to champion my script 'Recount', sneaking it to CAA which was a crucial step in launching it into production in less than a year."
– Danny Strong, screenwriter, RECOUNT
“Working with him for seven years, I know Palak Patel has a terrific understanding of story. Whether developing scripts from the germ of an idea or giving a final note on a shooting script, he has a fundamental knowledge of what makes scripts work. He is my go-to-guy for discovering fresh, new talent."
