About Me

Resource Database

www.mylocationscouts.com will be a site for non-filmmakers to upload their property for filmmakers to rent out for production. Their property could be anything from their run-down apartment to their porsche. They will earn 100% profits and filmmakers will get to barter with them direct. This could mean non-monetary compensation as well, such as free concert tickets, gear/clothes, a chance to work on set, etc. As you know there are union-protected location scouts and business-driven location databases that either charge a listing fee or take a commission too high for student and indie producers.

Education

MyLocationScouts will be free to list and free to search. We will also provide location contracts, pre-production checklists, a "How To" section that will educate people to be "their own location scout" AND a Film Friendliness scale that will rank all 50 states based on their incentive programs and provisions. This rank will include member experience and work as a [democratic] means of promoting or protesting the local efforts.

Community

Other than film and video, we appeal to photographers, music video producers, artists, and any other kid/adult/senior citizen with a consumer camera and a laptop to edit and stream off of. We also have a specifically tailored Location Scout profile for freelance scouts to get work off, promote themselves and use our database with.

Economy

According to the Motion Picture Association of America, "When a major studio shoots a big budget film on location, that can mean $225,000 per day to the local economy." Our network will help bring in more employment opportunities for restaurants, hotels, Rent-a-cars, electricians/grips, extras/actors across the US.

80-90% of film production is filmed on-location at homes, businesses, hotels, schools etc. People are going to be able to create extra cashflow off property that they own which could lead them to be more confident with spending.

Goal

We hope to provide people with a new source of income, regardless of how big their house is or how fast their car goes. We need a database of everything! And willing rentors behind that database? What could be better

We plan to provide freelance location scouts with a focused marketing plan: mylocationscouts.com/name where a resume, albums of photos, videos, union status and rates are available. These members will also have a forum to be commissioned to work through.

Lastly, our goal is to raise enough money to make a feature film. Meaning, we will funnel the profits back into the industry.
