About Me

Writer-Director Chris Hansen is an enigma. At least, that’s what he’d like to believe. He really likes to see himself as some beret-wearing, red-wine drinking ultra-cool artist. But in reality, he’s an award-winning writer and director, a husband and father, and a professor of film and digital media at Baylor University. That means he wears a lot of hats, which is fine with him because they cover his growing bald spot. But none of those hats is a black beret.

Chris graduated from Lee University and earned graduate degrees in film production and script & screenwriting from Regent University. His work has earned him acclaim in a variety of screenwriting competitions (including placing in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting and earning a Platinum 1st place award for best original dramatic screenplay from the Houston Worldfest International Film Festival).

His first feature film, The Proper Care & Feeding of an American Messiah, screened in nearly twenty national and international film festivals, winning several "Best of Fest" awards, and is now available on DVD from Reel Indies (www.reelindies.com)

He has written numerous screenplays, including the original play and screen adaptation for the independent feature film Monsters Don’t Get to Cry (directed by Kurando Mitsutake). He also directed the award-winning short films Keeping Up With the Joneses and Flanagan’s Exile.
