About Me

I came back to UCLA from another career (legal) and initially thought all I wanted to do was write. So following that thought, I Completed the UCLA Extension Screenwriters Program, the UCLA Writers Program, and the Television Writing Program, and was admitted (after full script submissions and selection) to advanced screenwriting (twice).

Because I wanted to direct, I went on to earn the UCLA Extension Certificate in Film and Television. My emphasis was in Producing/Directing. I have also earned the Global Entertainment Marketplace Producers certificate (during this program I went to Cannes and had the good fortune to have Amotz for an instructor), and the Portable Auteur Program Certificate.

To learn as I worked I Interned, for California Film Commission Dir. Amy Lemish. Presently I Intern, at Gold Circle Films, where I read and cover bad scripts along with an occasional gem.

As a writer, over the past few years, I wrote six spec film scripts (thrillers, an action adventure, and buddy/romantic comedies), plus one buddy comedy with a co-writer. I also wrote Spec scripts for one hour dramas (legal only), cartoons. I also conceived and wrote Feng Shui, Inc. (signing a world famous Feng Shui Master as the talent) and two other original lifestyle shows. For these shows I wrote the treatments, episode plans, and shooting formats.

I was selected and participated as a producer, Rutger Hauer FilmFactory 2008 in Rotterdam, NL. I was the Producer of a FilmFactory short, “The Ties That Bind”, and we showed it at the Rotterdam Film Festival (and had a crazy private after party). I was also the Producer of a Station Indent. “Thriller” for NBC/Universal 13th Street (Europe) while I was at FilmFactory. We made that 60 second spot within thirty hours. My team wrote the story collaboratively, and we shot it on location within three hours (including a complicated stunt) and had it edited and showed it to NBC by the following afternoon. A slightly tightened version is now showing on that channel.

During my time there, I enjoyed a working friendship with Rutger (who is amazing, and I am now helping him bring his teaching method and a version of his program to the US. I am hopeful that he will be able to teach a class or a program sometime in the next six months.

As a writer I am working on two more original lifestyle shows and I am developing ideas for three sports related shows for a known sports figure. I am polishing a feature script for festivals, and as part of the Entertainment Studies program, I am Writing, Developing and Producing “ In The Middle” as a festival short.

Recently my short script Stand Off was selected for an open reading durin the Giffon Film Festival. This month the same script moved into the First Round (One of the One Hundred remaining Finalists) of the American Gem Competition.
