About Me

John Schimmel, known for writing some of the best script notes in the business, has started a script consulting service at www.develop-scripts-that-sing.com.

John was most recently president of production of and producer for Ascendant Pictures, which produced such films as Lucky Number Slevin and Lord of War.

John's start in the film business came when a script he co-authored was optioned by Twentieth-Century Fox. Not long after that, John joined Warner Bros., first as a reader, then as story editor, and finally as a production and development executive. He went on to become vice-president of Douglas-Reuther Films, President of Michael Douglas' Further Films, and executive vice president of Belair Entertainment. Films John has worked on include The Fugitive, Interview With the Vampire, Mr. Wonderful, Face/Off, Outbreak, Sweet November, Collateral Damage, and The Big White.

John is currently teaching screenplay revision at UCLA Extension, and will be teaching screenwriting at the U.C. Riverside low residency program starting in the Spring. His new consulting service - www.develop-scripts-that-sing.com - provides an opportunity for screenwriters to work with him one-on-one.

Price includes up to ninety minutes of consultation. Length of notes will vary with screenplay, but they will in any case be thorough. Turn-around time is usually within one week.
