About Me
Born in Sydney on September 23rd, 1971, and raised in Melbourne, Sydney and Hong Kong, I began making films at the age of 11. Inspired by science-fiction TV shows and movies as a child, I began studying my favorite filmmakers - Steven Spielberg and George Lucas - as well as any book or article I could find about the process of making movies. In 1982, my parents gave me a Super-8 movie camera and editing equipment for Christmas.
I began experimenting with film as I entered the sixth grade and continued throughout High School; writing, shooting, directing and editing action/adventure or science fiction epics in backyards and local parks. I also documented numerous family vacations on video and film, edited the footage and added music and titles.
After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts Film and Television School in 1993, I returned to Sydney and worked as a production assistant on numerous television commercials, short films and feature films.
In 1996, I lived in Los Angeles for several months, where I observed numerous feature films in production. I was inspired to write my first feature-length screenplay, "Illustrated Hero", which I later developed with an independent film producer in Australia. In 1999, I began writing "The China Club", which I developed with another producer in Australia. My most recent screenplay is "Prey", an action/thriller which follows the adventures of five snowboarders, stalked by mysterious creatures in the Yukon Territory, Canada.
In January 2006, I moved to Los Angeles to seek work in film production and submit my screenplays to producers. I attended the Sundance Film Festival for the first time, and volunteered at the Los Angeles Film Festival. I also interned with several production companies in Hollywood, assisting with development and research, gaining valuable experience. In January 2007, I began working for a production company on the Universal Studios lot, and continue to develop my screenplays for independent production.
