About Me

ABOUT THE WRITER

Cyril Anthony Augustin, Jr. is a thirty-seven-year old, African-American screenwriter from New Orleans. Mr. Augustin has been a screenwriter for fifteen-years and have written several screenplays and TV scripts in that time. His first opportunity came back in 2001 when he was offered the chance to tag along with actor/producer/director Moon Jones while he was shooting his latest film, "25 to Life" in New Orleans. A year later, Cyril's screenplay "Loyalty" was a quarter-finalist in Hollywood's Next Success Screenplay Competition in 2002. Cyril's next break came in 2004 when his screenplay "Treasure in The Hood" was optioned to Arch Sports/Entertainment and was later filmed in New Orleans, in the same neighborhood where he was raised. The film won The Audience Choice Award at the 1st Annual Atlanta Film Festival on April 15, 2005, and was released on June 28, 2005 by Warner Bros. home video.

In early 2005, Mr. Augustin's writing caught the attention of Most Wanted Films CEO's David and Danny Garcia of the rap group Kane and Abel. Cyril was hired by the Garcia brothers to write the comedy, "Jeremy's Family Reunion". The film was a straight to DVD film, released by Maverick Entertainment in late 2005. Also in late 2005, Cyril wrote and co-directed the short film "The Block". The short was a winner and opener at The New Orleans, African American, Indy Film Showcase presented by Time Code Nola. The short was also used in commercials on Time Code to lure teens away from crime and into film. Cyril was also featured on Time Code Nola's television program that covers the film industry in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana. Cyril has been considered one of many very talented, up and coming screenwriters in New Orleans. With several film scripts and TV projects in the works, Cyril is truly blessed with a promising future ahead. Cyril hopes to one day open his own production company along with programs that will bring more disabled, African-Americans into the film industry.
