About Me

My name is Devin Gibson better know as DirectorDevin, I have always had a strong desire for filmmaking since i was a little boy,I would watch tons of films and i would always be concerned about how scenes were put together to tell a story, i was especially intrested in camera angles and blocking. I used to litterally watch movies and take my dads old 8mm camera out and remake old horror films. After finishing high school i decided to take my love for filmmaking to the next level and i attended film school in new york city. In school i studied the art of scene geography and staging for 4 years and i believe that's what made me to become a better film director. I always believed that understanding camera language is the directors best friend because we need the camera to tell our story, i learned how to tell my story with my camera moves and not only rely on my actors. In 2003 i got my first jiob in the film industry as a camera operator for lionsgate films i also worked alot with new line cinema, even though my job was strictly holding the camera, i alwyas wanted to direct movies, i would always sit on set with the directors and producers of the films and we would discuss blocking and camera angles for hours, i would always watch carefully how they would direct a scene and how they would use the camera to convey the gravity of an emotional scene thats when i started to take film directing to the next level. After leaving the union i took the independant route and started directing music videos, short films, documentaries, ect,i switched from the film format to the digital format. For so long i have been hearing of so many debates on which format to use to create a movie and i never understood why so many people cared, once you know how to tell a story visually there should not be a problem of which casmera to use film doesnt give you a btter image then video if the person who is operating the film camera doesnt know what he is doing. i've seen tons of horribly shot films on 35mm film that were awful and i seen the same with video in vice versa, it really depends on the filmmaker. I joined this website with hopes to network with other filmmakers around the world with hopes that we can all meet one day and create a masterpiece.
