Writer/Instructor
BILLY MERNIT began his writing career as a composer-lyricist whose songs were covered by Carly Simon and Judy Collins, among others. While he enjoyed a successful stint as a romance novelist in the ‘80s, publishing 20 books (under the names Lee and Leigh Anne Williams) for Harlequin and Berkeley/Jove, he’s currently most well-known as the author of the bestselling screenwriting textbook, Writing the Romantic Comedy (Harper/Collins), and its related blog (www.livingromcom.typepad.com).
A professional script consultant and a frequent speaker at writing conferences around the country, Billy Mernit teaches screenwriting at the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, and has also written for television (NBC’s legendary Santa Barbara). His novel IMAGINE ME AND YOU will be published by Random House (Shaye Areheart Books) in April 2008.
