A young girl escapes an abusive foster care house and gets whisked away to a magical land only to discover that real life problems don’t just disappear and sometimes what you need the most is what you already have.
Synopsis
The world is not a nice place for Leslie, a nine year old who’s seen just a little too much and knows how painful life can be. Having lost her parents, Leslie is sent to live in an abusive foster care house. The storm that is brewing on the horizon is nothing compared to the one that rages within the four walls of the home. As the clouds burst and the wind howls, Leslie sets off to find the family she believes she still has. Carried off by the gale-force winds, Leslie awakes in a magical land. Enchanted, but unsure of this new place, Leslie gradually makes friends with the creatures of the land, beginning with Matilda, a fairy. Matilda is Leslie’s opposite, constantly overshadowed by her large, overbearing family. Her new friend tells her of a fickle, malevolent king who lives on top of the highest mountain in the land, the one that extends up beyond the clouds. It is rumored he can grant any wish. Leslie and Matilda set off to see the king. Leslie wants her family back and Matilda wants to prove something to hers. Along the way they meet several other characters in need, who join in the quest. Unfortunately for our intrepid crew, an evil sorceress has also taken an interest in their journey. At first, she is amused by merely creating havoc for the friends. But the mishaps strengthen their bond and make them even more determined to make it to the king. Enraged, the sorceress sets in motion a diabolical plan to meant to destroy Leslie. The crew makes it to the top only to find out the king can only grant the wishes of those who are pure of heart. The king tells them a pure heart cannot hold fear and the crew must confront what they have begun to fear the most: the sorceress. Can a band of magical creatures and a nine year old girl confront real evil? Is family who you are born with or who stands beside you in your darkest hour?
