Description

This discussion group is offered by ES ENTERTAINMENT and ESE FILM WORKSHOPS ONLINE. Ask us a question - we will try to answer it to the best of our ability. If it opens up a whole discussion amongs the community of filmmakers here at STORYLINK, then all the merrier - let's all chime in.

Monika Skerbelis and I will continue to give free lectures at the Writers Store this year so join us and don't forget to come up and say hello to us. The next one up is CREATING A PRODUCTION COMPANY and will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 11 am. This is our most popular lecture and in the past has been an SRO event! Even our last lecture on Finding & Developing New Ideas was SRO that the Writers Store didn't have enough chairs for everyone. So you'll need to make a reservation! In addition, we always make ourselves available to sign copies of our critically acclaimed book, I LIKED IT, DIDN'T LOVE IT (SCREENPLAY DEVELOPMENT FROM THE INSIDE OUT). ALSO you'll have the opportunity to sign up for ESE FILM WORKSHOPS ONLINE's innovative online courses. And the Writers Store will offer 10% off any of their books while attending the lecture! We're very excited as ONE LUCKY ATTENDEE WILL WIN GORILLA BUDGETING AND SCHEDULING SOFTWARE courtesy of Jungle Software. This is a $399 dollar value. So come early to enter your name in the drawing!

"Thanks for putting on such a great class...Been growing by huge leaps…Because of your class, I’m holding a ticket to Cannes in my hands”
--Troy Perry (Maneuvering Film Festival Student, April 2007)

.
"Last year, I produced a short film that was rejected from every festival I entered. When I saw a free seminar at the Writer's Store on "Maneuvering Film Festivals," I hoped it would give me an edge to at least get accepted to a festival. I learned more in that hour seminar from Rona Edwards and Monika Skerbelis than I ever imagined! I signed up for their ESE FILM WORKSHOPS ONLINE course and bought their book, "I liked It, Didn't Love It (Screenplay Development From The Inside Out)." What a wealth of information! I followed their suggestions and got into 8 festivals, with 4 awards and recognitions. At one of the festivals, I met a producer who asked for a feature length version of my short."
--Diana Niles (Maneuvering Film Festivals Student, April 2007)

.
"I learned a lot and I think all that I have learned will help my career. The class was excellent"
--Danielle Dillard (Creating a Production Company Student, March 2008)

.
“The best thing about Rona and Monika’s “Creating a Production Company” class was its emphasis on the practical. They didn’t simply lecture about what we ought to do in order to create a company and put its best foot forward—they obliged us to actually DO it, step by step. Each week’s homework assignment was harder than the one before it, but in a good way—by the end of the class I had lists of real people to contact at real studios, precisely targeted to real projects I’m really working on. And all without ever leaving my desk at home (or changing out of my pajamas, for that matter:)"
--Robert Toombs,(Creating a Production Company Student, 2007)

We are very excited about our 2008 slate of online courses. The highly popular 5-week intensive course "Screenplay Development From The Inside Out" will be back this summer beginning August 6 - September 3 and the six week "Creating a Production Company" will also be back September 24 - October 9 - this one also is probably our most popular online course so sign up soon. For those of you who missed the four week "Maneuvering Film Festivals" it won't be back till November 2nd - and it's our last class for 2008. Best of all you can take any of these courses from anywhere in the world!!

More workshops and seminars to come. Plus we were part of the the Storylink Allstars at the Great American Pitchfest sponsored by the Writers Store in June! What a trip that was - lots of pitches to be heard, lots of writers roaming the halls of the Burbank Marriott.

You can sign up for ESE courses on the ESE WEBSITE using paypal or sign up at The Writers Store.

If you're attending any of the free lectures and have taken our past courses or attended the Great American Pitchfest, please be sure and say hello to us or let us know you're in this group - we'd love to meet you. Also ESE FILM WORKSHOPS ONLINE will be presenting an exclusive membership card to all our former and future students which will entitle them to industry discounts and networking opportunities. This will be happening within the next month. We will have discounts for all sorts of things, plus discounts on ESE Film Workshop Online Courses. Much more information to come on this new development - we're very excited about it.

Till then - happy writing and look forward to many more online discussions here at STORYLINK!
