FEATURED FILMS
"The Farce"
By Writers Gabrielle Glen and Jason Miller/Directors Derek Curtis Jennings and Austin Scott
"The Farce" is a comic spoof satirizing rap artist Rick Ross' latest single, "The Boss." It seeks to challenge what has now become the status quo of rap, which has essentially become a modern day minstrel show in which non-talented artists recite formulaic, disingenuous rhymes that speak no truth and are contributing to the deterioration of a lost generation. This video seeks to unveil these untruths, showing the reality of the day-to-day situations in the lives of these "artists." -- 5 minutes
"Lizz Straight: Portrait of a Poet Synopsis" -
Directed by Sateesh Rogers
'Portrait of a Poet' is a short documentary providing a glimpse into the world of spoken word artist, Lizz Straight. Filmed throughout the State of Florida, 'Portrait' reveals the pain and pride that inspires the brilliant prose and uncanny insight of the 26-year old Mississippi native. -- 10 minutes
"Within the Wall"
Written and Directed by Paula Neiman
A gap in the far wall of the neighborhood front store hosts anonymous drug transactions. Through his poetry, a young boy depicts the lives of those who reside on both sides of the wall. "Within The Wall" was an official selection in over 20 film festivals, talking home awards in over half. -- 15 minutes
"Homeless Destiny"
Written by Kathryn J. Taylor/Directed by Trey Haley
A random encounter with a homeless woman jeopardizes the life and dreams of four strangers. As their humanity is put to the test, their destiny unfolds; and we quickly learn that this encounter is not so much random as it is divinely ordered. Written by and starring Kathryn, "Homeless Destiny" is a faith based sociopolitical dramedy which examines society's views and stereotypes of the homeless and teaches us that true character is measured by how you treat someone who can't do anything for you. -- 13 minutes
" 5 "
Written/Directed/Produced by Damon Alexander Young
A spoof of the hit Fox television show "24", "5" features Joe Hernandez Kolski ("HBO's Def Poetry") as Jack, an intense counterterrorism agent with just moments to interrogate a dangerous suspect (Robert A. Johnson, "Transgressions", and ABC's "Eli Stone") before a bomb detonates somewhere on American soil. But when the crisis is suddenly and abruptly averted, what does he do with all of that spare time? This is going to be the longest five minutes of Jack's life. Also starring Jennifer Azar Burnham ("Stuck On You"). Details, production stills, and more at
