TV & Feature Script Analysis Training Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Scriptwriters Network is proud to present Bill Lundy teaching the network's semi-annual Readers Training/Script Analysis Class for Feature Films and Television. The purpose of this class is twofold: It gives you, the writer, a solid grounding in script analysis – how to break down stories, characters, and dialogue, what to look for, and how to create constructive criticism. For the Network, it expands our pool of volunteer readers for our Hollywood Outreach Program and Carl Sautter Memorial Outreach Program for Television. So it’s a win-win situation! It will cover both Features and TV script analysis. The instructors will be Bill Lundy (former Chairman of the Network, veteran script consultant and reader, produced screenwriter) and Lynn Terashita (veteran TV writer/reader, former Chair of the TV portion of the Carl Sautter Competition).
As many of our guest speakers in the past have said, and many of our members have learned for themselves, reading and analyzing scripts is one of the best ways to improve your own writing! It’s so much easier to see both glaring problems and brilliant writing in work that is not your own – and once you see it and know what to look for, you can then apply it to your own scripts. Over 300 members have taken this class over the past few years, and not only have they had fun, most of them have reported improvement in their craft. Several members have also gotten industry reading jobs based on what they learned in the class and later applied while reading for Hollywood Outreach and TV Outreach. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE PAST AND CURRENT READERS FOR THE NETWORK’S PROGRAMS TO ATTEND THIS CLASS! We feel that even if you’ve been reading for years, you’ll get something out of this. We do ask that if you take the class and successfully pass, that you commit to reading at least one round of Hollywood Outreach or the Carl Sautter Memorial Outreach Program for Television (as needed).
DETAILS: The class will be held on Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at CBS/Radford Studios, Building 8 Multi-Purpose Room, 4024 Radford Ave. in Studio City. You’re invited to stay afterwards for our Seminar Series meeting with guest speaker Catherine Ann Jones, who’ll be discussing her topic THE WAY OF THE STORY. $15 for non-members ($10.00 for members of WGA, Women in Film, FIND, FIN, ScreenplayLab). Free for SWN members and Jeff Gund’s info list-- Jeff Gund’s List people and guests must bring copy of invitation for discount NO EXCEPTIONS!!!).
