TV writer and instructor Tracy Friedman teaches a version of her popular Cal State Northridge class “Teaching Yourself How to Write One-Hour Drama.” This special seminar will focus on various techniques for writing drama for television, which continues to be an exploding marketplace for writers, thanks to Lost, Heroes and other hit shows. Tracy will also be sharing insights, acquired during 15 years of on-the-job training, about the inner workings of episodic television, and the road to success in this highly competitive but extremely lucrative branch of the entertainment industry.Tracy has written more than 30 hours of produced prime time, daytime and syndicated television including Time Trax, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, and Freedom. She is now is the process of reinventing herself once again, this time as a feature writer and a teacher at Cal State Northridge, where she teaches screenwriting.
DATE, LOCATION & TIME: Saturday, May 19 CBS/Radford Studios, Multipurpose Room 8, 4024 Radford Ave. in Studio City (one block north of Ventura Blvd., one block east of Laurel Canyon). Doors open at 12 noon, with the speakers to begin at 1:00 pm. Non-member admission is $15.00 ($10 for members of WGA, Women in Film, FIND, FIN, or Jeff Gund's Info List).
