Interesting new contest (new to me -- I just found out yesterday):
http://www.netflixfindyourvoice.com/
The winner gets $150,000 to make a feature plus distribution on Netflix instant download. Netflix instant download actually isn't that great yet. It used to just be a place bad movies went to die, though lately they've been adding better titles.
In any case you're not limited to instant download as distribution. You retain ownership of whatever you make so if you win you could leverage the $150k to attract more investors.
Be aware that they are looking for people who have a completed feature screenplay *AND* a sample/short film to demonstrate you know what you're doing.

Thanks for posting this! And it's great to see some new activity on this group. I love the Sci-Fi and Horror genres.

Thanks!
If anyone else knows of any great contests, please share it here. For those of us with no Hollywood connections, contests are the key to breaking into the business. They give you something to put on your writer's resume and something to mention at pitch fests and in query letters.
They also give you an argument to talk someone you're pitching to into believing your script might be good enough to read.
Btw, everyone knows about WithOutABox.com, right? That's a great contest entry site that usually provides a discount on entry fees. If at all possible, always enter contests through With Out A Box.
The big kahuna of contests is the Nicholl Fellowship. It's the most prestigious because it's run by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences (the Oscar people): http://www.oscars.org/awards/nicholl/index.html
That's the one people really notice. I made the semi-finals last year and got lots of calls from agents and production companies requesting my script.
The only others that are almost as prestigious are the Austin Film Festival screenplay contest (http://www.austinfilmfestival.com) and the Disney Fellowship (http://www.abctalentdevelopment.com/default.htm).

There are some great genre-specific contests like Screamfest and Shriekfest. Shriekfest also has a great community that gets sloshed on happy hour once a month in Hollywood.
I 100% agree about Nicholl, Austin and Disney. And now there's Marvel - which will also be a big deal.
Page is also a biggie, but it's international, which not only means many more entrants, but also a "specificity" in what they're looking for. (take that as you will)
Script Pimp has advertising a lot lately...
For TV, Warner Brothers and Nickelodeon are great.
Moviebytes.com is a great source for feedback on all the other contests out there. A lot of these other contests, if nothing else, can be great for leverage when you win or place.
