Home > Groups > Sitcom Writing > Discussion > Getting a pilot script read
Hi all,
I've written a couple of sitcom scripts and have probably taken the long hand way of submitting scripts for people to read. Sometimes I actually get a reply! I've pondered the usual catch 22 of tv production companies not reading anything unless you have an agent, and agent's not accepting unsolicated scripts. So, any cunning advice to getting a foot in the door? I'm in the UK, and have sent scripts out to UK production companies and have had postive replies, but is there an 'acceptable' way to get scripts to US companies?
Thanks, Rich
Hi Rich:
I have found that submittng a script to a coompetition that is owned and operated by credentialed, respectable, people like the ones at Bluecat iis a good way to go. Even if you place but, don't win it's worthwhiile for your screenwriting portfolio or resume. If you win, even better. It seems as though agents open their doors to you in these circumstances. Again I recommend checking out the credetials of the people and the contest.
Also, have you checked out Scriptfrenzy? They tons of info and links to free screenwriting webs like Zhura where there is an improv co.who hossts a liive web show and asks for writers to upload scripts or ideas for them to choose.
I wrote an orginal half hour sitcom thatI'm trying to do something with.
let me know how you do.
