Objective:

Here at The International we revel in every aspect of a script, screenwriting and the screenwriters who make all that possible, inviting submissions from around the world. This competition was created to encourage and support the efforts and celebrate the outstanding work of screenwriters.

The competition's objective is to provide emerging screenwriters with the opportunity to compete for over US$150,000 value Greenlight Package, prizes, scholarships, and awards that place focus on education that brings script to screen.

We are providing screenwriters valuable and factual insight what it takes for a script to be Greenlit and opening up avenues and opportunities for a project. This criteria is not only valuable insight to win this contest, but is factually what it takes for a script to be Greenlit and achieve financing.

Our Jurors and Judges are film industry professionals and composed of experts in their field, including; Consultants, Film Financiers, Film Fund Managers, Development & Green Light Specialists, International Distributors, Studio Executives, Producers & Directors, Story Analysts, and Casting Directors. All of our judges are seasoned industry professionals with major credits in Film Finance, experience in major motion picture studios, productions and distribution companies.

Eligibility: Open to all writers, producers, directors - 18 and over that qualify under the terms, rules and regulations.

THE GRAND PRIZE

A $150,000 value Film Critical Path (TM) Development Package containing the pre-requisites for Greenlight presentation to Production Funding, provided by United Independents Group, an international professional film development and finance company.

The package includes: professional Script Development, Dialogue Polish & Table Reading, Synopsis, Logline, Coverage, Greenlight Analysis, Market Comparisons, Preliminary budget & breakdown, Project Summary for Finance, and consideration for possible acquisition/finance.

Development is concept through analysis for Greenlight suitability, where the project can be presented to Investors/Funds for Production Financing.

The International 2009 Scholarships

Official Terms, Rules, and Regulations

You, the writer, herein referred to as the entrant. The International Script Awards, is herein referred to as the competition.

1. All entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Scripts may not be entered by another party other than the writer or the legal copyright holder of the script.

2. Scripts including all international entries must be received in English.

3. The competition is void wherever prohibited by law.

4. Scripts must be the original work of the entrant(s) and to be considered eligible, a third party must not have encumbered the work. Scripts that have been produced or sold are not eligible. Optioned scripts are eligible.

5. Entrants may not have been paid more than $500,000 for any work as a screenwriter or writer in a production within the last 7 years.

6. Adaptations of any other written material, books, teleplays, plays, or any other source or party than the entrant are not eligible unless rights have been purchased for same. Self-published material is acceptable under the terms that you have retained all rights to your work. Entrant confirms that the underlying materials used in the submitted script are cleared appropriately.

7. Entering and registration. You may register an online account using your e-mail address as the log-in. At anytime during the competition and judging you may access your account to see any new developments.

8. Payment of entry fee is non-refundable.

Script Submissions: All scripts entered must be uploaded electronically and within the format guidelines or may be automatically disqualified. An e-mail confirmation will be sent to your e-mail address once the payment is confirmed and the script is uploaded and received.

9. Final Deadline: October 12th, 2009 11:59 p.m. No submissions or exceptions are allowed after this date.

10. All entrants are eligible for the grand prize, second prize overall, third prize overall and first place in one chosen genre category. Submission into additional genre categories can be purchased with a maximum of four genres per script submission.

11. Multiple entries from each writer are accepted, provided the appropriate and separate entry submission and fee is paid.

12. The entrant understands and acknowledges the competition's judging procedure.

13. No substitutions, new drafts, or corrected pages for entries will be accepted under any circumstances. You may, however, re-enter the entire script as a new script and pay the new entry fee.

14. The entrant will not be disqualified for entering the same script, or rewritten script in consecutive Competition years, unless that script placed as a semi-finalist or higher in previous competition.

15. Co-writing teams may enter into the competition and the entering person shall be considered the entrant. Prizes will be divided among the writers.

16. You, the entrant understands and acknowledges that payment of the entry fee, and your rights are expressly limited to those that are explicitly set forth in this Rules, Terms and Regulations, and specifically the only right that you are guaranteed is to have your script evaluated and judged. The competition's sole judgment determines whether it is worthy of winning a prize.

17. Entering this competition does not constitute a contract between the entrant and The International Scripts Awards or its sponsors, other than the right to have your script judged and evaluated for a prize.

18. The Entrant understands and acknowledges that the Film Critical Path Development Package is not a production deal and no guarantees are made as to funding of the project. Although, the defined prize is to get the project to a point where it can be presented to Investors/Funds and key industry people for production financing.

We do not know what the project will be about and have no way to define or determine the content, budget, at this point to guarantee the funding of a project.

19. The entrant understands and acknowledges that it is the entrant's sole responsibility (and the competition has no such responsibility) to protect the entrant's rights with respect to the script, including without limitation, filing, or registering the script with the United States Copyright Office, or the Writers Guild of America. The entrant understands and acknowledges that the Competition recommends that the entrant register the script with both of the foregoing.

20. The entrant retains all right to their work. The International Script Awards, and its judging panel have no rights or interests regarding your intellectual property and does not retain rights to your work.

21. Prizes are subject to change depending on availability without notification.

22. Prizes are non-transferable and the winner shall be responsible for applicable taxes.

23. The entrant understands that it is The International Script Awards and the competition privacy policy to not release any information about you, the entrant, or your script to any third parties not directly involved with the judging process.

Should a qualified industry professional place a request to read your script, an e-mail and a follow-up email shall notify you of the request and it will be up to you to make direct contact with the requesting party.

24. The International Script Awards and the competition are not responsible for submissions that are lost, stolen or damaged in transit.

25. All administrators, employees and independent contractors of The International Script Awards Competition are not eligible for entry into the competition.

26. The decisions of the jurors and judges are final and may not be disputed.

27. Your ranking is not published or sent out to anyone for any reason, with the exception of the winners for the purposes of promotional activities.

By submitting an entry fee and script, the entrant agrees to having read the Terms, Rules, and Regulations, acknowledge and accept the Terms, Rules, and Regulations of The International 2009 Script Awards
