It's so wonderful to know that, finally, in this, our, time zone, eco documentaries like Greg Reitman's 'Fuel" and his upcoming film on Peace, filmed at the U.N., are gaining widespread attention, and that, like Michael Moore, these films are shown alongside usual entertainment films on the film TV stations.
Not until they make the cable channels, perhaps, do the run-of-the-mill viewers see these great documentaries, but they see 'em!
That's the great thing!
And the names of these multi-awarded films - (the film community is hip, after all, and alwys first to embrace, endorse, and to support great causes ) - are known to multitudes.
This is really a wonderful kind of revolution - via film.
Film is, of course, the most personal, perhaps, of creative media - meaning - films get through visually, watched in darkened rooms, applied, like dreams, with music, to make the impact even more direct, so it's always nice to see this powerful medium being used to sponsor ideas that people need to know.
Anyone who knows my work - music, mainly - knows that I stand for eco, green, and compassionate, universal causes, and I'm very into making films like this that generate acceptance of necessary ideas, or at least investigation, conversation, and idea-sharing about them.
In order to save our planet, we need to devote a lot of film work to vital issues.
This is really a great era, despite all, for ideas like this.
The time has finally come for the ordinary person to be privy to worldwide idea exchange.
And - the Utopian in me applauds this as a way - just in the nick of time - to save the world!
Cool!
