Until I read my friend's, Paul Chitlik's book, REWRITE, I always thought that the first draft I had done was good enough to send to my agent and/or any producer.
Well, after reading Paul's book, I learned that I was wrong. Even after my writing partner and I had won an award at a film festival for our first screenplay written together.
From now on, everything gets a going over with a fine tooth comb. It doesn't matter if I write in shot numbers or camera angles, the way I was taught to do so, as long as the page count is no longer than 130 pages, according to my agent. Since he's been in every aspect of the business more than sixty years, I figure he knows what he's talking about.
And so does Paul Chitlik in his book. In short, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
