Rewrites and Developement Hell
Since we got a good audience reaction from our Core Values short, we decided to make another short with the same characters for the holidays. The Core Values of Christmas is on youtube now. In addition, we plan on filming at least a few more comedies and some more serious stories as well. We have a good group or writers and self taught film makers here. If you are ever in Phoenix on a Wednesday night, drop by the borders bookstore @ 7pm on Alma School and the 60 for a script table read.

Myself and a group of writers entered the Phoenix Independent Films Makers 36 hour film challenge. The rules were that each team had to use the line "Are you kidding me?" in the film - spoken by an actor/actress. The prop that had to be in every film was an apple. Each film couldn't be longer than 3 minutes and that included credits
We won 4th place over all and won Best Use of Prop. The you tube link is below: Enjoy!

Wow, it's been since Feb since I've been on here. Sorry. Well I have been busy working on my 2nd feature and it is completed. I'm still polishing it up a bit and had already submitted it to the Disney 2009 Fellowship. We'll see if I get another call like last year. I stuck with the name of, "The Neptune Massive". I really like that title. Mark of Kings has circulated a bit and is still getting positive feedback. I hope the Massive gets the same response. I took a 2 week break from writing anything - as difficult as it was I did but now I'm back and researching and developing other projects and still working with Group Effort Animation on a series. Well that's it for now I guess. I'll try to write more often in my blog.
Cheers!!!!!

Now that Mark of Kings is complete (my first feature) , I now find myself in the middle of writing two other features. One is a Sci-Fi adventure, which is already getting good marks on originality and the second is another fantasy story - also getting good marks on originality. I guess I'm doing something right. I have already sent out some query letters and now waiting for the responses if any I hope. I hope Disney pulls through with thier offer to send out Mark of Kings. We'll see. Unti next time all. Have a great time writing.

Okay so a lot has happened since I last wrote here. I changed the name to the screenplay. It is no loner Reign of Blood and now has been changed to "Mark of Kings" I submitted into the Disney Writers Fellowship Contest and waited. In that time between then and now, I made at least 3 revisions to the story and it is now at a point that I am satisfied with the story. The reviews from friends and family that read it are good. to make things even better, earlier this week I got a call from Disney and out of 1,200 sumissions, Mark of Kings is in the top 30. I was completely blown away. I had a phone interview and I was still in utter shock and awe about the whole thing. What an amazing rush and great validation I needed for myself and my story. So now the waitng game really begins for me and I hope I get a call back. I though I really hope I get it, who wouldn't want to get it, if I don't I still got the validation I needed and being in the top 30 out of 1,200 is nothing to sneeze at.
Keep your fingers crossed!
Cheers!

So I finsihed Reign of Blood and currently working on the rewrites and revisions. I finally decided on the new title, "Mark of Kings". So now registered and getting my final bearings on where the story goes from here. I always knew that Mark of Kings was basicaly laying the foundation for the biger story. A fellow writer asked if it was going to be a franchise film. Granted it is the beginning of a greater story I don't think of it as a franchise. I've always hated the term franchise. Not that I am comparing my story with these moives but as an example I don't see the Star Wars or TheLord of the Rings as a franchise series. It's had always been the continuation of a story. This is what I am wokring on. Just so happens that Mark of Kings had to be under the 120 range so the rest, which as been either written or outlined etc., has to wait for the time being
