I'm Back ( not that anyone cares)

I sort of diappeared there for a while. I had so much going on in real life and still do but I really want to get back into writing. I wasn't really posting much here anyways.

It has been several months since I have picked up the pen to write. The more movies and TV shows I watch the more I think I can do better than some of them! I am not gifted so for me it will be hard hard work! I'll take it one day at a time. It's not like I am on a big deadline. I wsant to write to prove to myself first and far most that I can complete a project.

I downloaded the free scriptwriting software, and will use that for now. Perhaps in the near future I will splurge for Final Draft. It's not that important at this point.

I am setting up a schedule to wake up early each morning, around 6 am when hubby gets up for work and spend 2-3 hours writing. Then spend another hour or two in the afternoon when Zoe is napping.

I have one small detail to attend to before I break out the pen and paper LOL. I need to clean off my desk of the clutter which is very distracting.

Bye for now

Rights

I need to find some information about obtainng rights to something copyrighted. I was under the assumption that all I needed was permission from the copyright holder. But do I need to pay them up front? That would suck since I really don't have a lot of money. I would be more than willing to pay if I wrote the script and it was produced.

I have this idea, sorry can't give much detail at this point but it is based on a popular TV show. I know no feature has been made yet. (A couple of tv movies after the series ended) I think it has a lot of potential.

I have a few other things I am working on so if the first one doesn't come through I can fall back on the other stuff.

Zoe needs to go back to sleep because I need to do some work. It's way to early for her to be awake.

Greetings

Hmmmmmm not sure where to start. I guess a little background in case anybody actually reads this.

I'm from Oregon (non native) I grew up in PA and moved to the Northwest in 1988. I settled in Seattle and lived there for a few years before moving a little south to the Portland area. I have been married for 11 years and we have a 15 month old little girl named Zoe.

I have wanted to write for a long time but always felt I wouldn't be any good so why bother. Recently I was at a convention and one of the stars was saying just go out and do it. She was talking about filmmaking but I guess it can apply to writing or anything else in life. "Life's too short" so I have nothing to lose from trying except for some time. I am lucky in that I am a full time mom and can devote several hours a day to writing. (just not all at one time)

I came across storylink while looking for information on pitching. This looks like a good place so see you around.
